In Loving Memory…

Our Beloved Rich

In Loving Memory of my brother Rich, who was called to heaven last night. You fought the good fight and showed us all tremendous strength and courage. I know you are at peace now. I love you today, tomorrow and always.

Thank you to everyone who has shown their support to Rich, Ilana, Keith and Lindsey, as well as to our entire family during these last 16 months. My entire family will be forever grateful for your kindness, thoughtfulness and dedication.

Rich loved you all.

With sincere gratitude,

Liz Mackney

  1. Rich was an incredible person, with an optimistic outlook like no other. His sense of humor and positive attitude were a rarity. I wish that we could have met in person. The times we spoke will always be remembered with fondness.

Our hearts go out to the family during this difficult time, you’re in our thoughts today and always.

When I first met Rich, you could immediately sense his happy countenance, his strong character and great spirit when he walked into the room. And this was at the gym in the spin room! I can still see his tall frame, working hard, enjoying the ride while we all suffered through the class.

I know he is with our Lord and free from the pain and limitations of his body. Rich is riding free and limitless…as long as he likes and as far as he wants.

My prayers are for the Mackney family and your loss of him. May God bless you all.

I am deeply saddened by your loss. As a friend of Liz Mackney, I had the privilege of meeting Rich a long, long time ago, when he was healthy, vibrant, charming, and very kind. I will always remember him that way. I will also keep him and the Mackney family in my prayers. Please accept my sincerest condolences.

It was with sadness and also joy I read the notifications of Rich’s “new address” today. My heart and prayers go out to Ilana and the family. Although I only worked with Rich the last four years I feel privileged he was in my life.

My memories of Rich go back to childhood as our families were neighbors & friends. Billy, my dearly departed brother, was good friends with Rich.
Rich & Ilana would come & visit my parents whenever they were in the area. I know my parents cherished these visits dearly.
My heart is heavy with much sadness. The world was a
better place as Rich touched everyone he met.
My sincere sympathy to the whole Mackney family. You are all in my thoughts & prayers. Love, Elaine

Rich – While your journey here may have run its course, I wish that the wind is always at your back, and that you keep the rubber side down on your future travels.

Liz, Keith, family and friends – you are in my family’s thoughts and prayers – my sincerest condolences to everyone affected

  10. Rich’s friendship was simply an incredible blessing in my life. That I was able to spend as much time with him as I did was a gift. He was a very strong man and a gentleman of character, courage and conviction. He possessed a brilliant mind, a tremendous sense of humor and a big heart for each of us. He was also a source of tremendous inspiration to others with ALS to “fight on”.

My thoughts and prayers are with Lana, Lindsey, Keith, Liz, Stan and your entire family during this difficult time.

    Love & Friendship,

I had the great pleasure of meeting Liz about 2 years ago when Liz flew to NC to visit Duck and take photos on the Outer Banks. I became an instant fan of Liz and her incredible talent and love of photography. Liz and I managed to stay in contact and through an e-mail correspondence she wrote with great poise and passion about Rich and his battle with his disease. Love, compassion, strength, faith and hope are timeless, and even though I live in NC and have never met Rich, there was a seamless sense of great love and devotion pouring out to Rich from his loving family, friends and even those not acquainted at all…perhaps even from those afflicted with this tremendously challenging disease and/or their loved ones who knew first hand the pains and hardships from the moment of diagnosis to the very end of a life well lived, loved and cherished.

My heart pours out to all of the Mackney family—you are the epitomy of warriors of love.

    With my deepest condolences,
    Peg Pinkman

I had never met Rich, but know his dad, Stanley. From the way he lovingly spoke of his son, Rich must have been someone special. I know for certain he was well loved.

My thoughts and prayers are with Stanley and the rest of the Mackney Family.
